Praise be to God for the successful Presidential Installation ceremony held at the MVC Alumni church on September 23, 2016. The new president, Dr. Gladden Obsiana Flores, is MVC’s 18th president. He will be the college’s paramount leader for the next 4 years. Dr. Gladden Obsiana Flores is the second child of the late Restituto Elumir Flores and Perla Dalumpines Obsiana. He is an alumnus of the following institutions: Acmonan SDA Elementary School, Matutum View Academy, Mountain View College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and Health, Philippine Union College where he finished his Master of Arts in Educational Administration, and South Western University in Cebu where he earned his doc toral degree in Educational Management. Dr. Flores is married to Professor Pinky Flores, and they have two children. Dr. Flores is a man of great achievements and talents, yet of a humble heart. He has taught and led not only in this country, but also in places like Thailand and Palau - a proof of his responsible and trustworthy nature as a leader. The ceremony was participated by the entire faculty members from basic education up to college, students, the MVC board of trustees: Pr. Roger Caderma (Executive Secretary, SPUC), Pr. Edwin C. Gulfan (President, SPUC), Elder. Chemuel U. Almocera (Treasurer, SPUC), Dr. Rolisa Benedicto (MVC Board Member); Other guests were Prof. Natalie T. Igot (Supervising Education Program Specialist, CHED, Region 10), PSupt. Benbo Patagok Jumalon (Chief of Police,Valencia City), Ms. Mary Lonna Buenafe (Private Secretary II, Mayor’s Office, Valencia City), and Hon. Rufo Vallespin Jr. (Barangay Chairman, Mt. Nebo). The ceremony was graced by the participation of the Manupali String Machine with their violin rendition, the Advent Philomels’ songs, Asst. Prof. Dwight Kenji E. Madriaga and Mr. Aldwin Ivan Bandiola’s musical rendition, and the music from selected faculty, student teachers and high-school students’ Angklung ensemble.
True education is missionary training. Every son and daugther of God is called to be a missionary; we are called to the service of God and our fellow men; and to fit us for this service should be the object of our education.
